JIM TUREK is a restoration ecologist with more than 35 years of experience in fishery biology, aquatic ecology, and ecological restoration.  He currently works with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries’ Restoration Center where he focuses on the removal of dams and other barriers to restore fish passage and benefit migratory and resident fishes.  Jim has been involved in over 40 dam removals through community-based restoration and natural resource damage projects.  His career has included multiple positions as an environmental scientist, as well as a fishery biologist with the NOAA Fisheries’ Habitat Protection Division in the Chesapeake Bay region.  Jim seeks to teach multiple generations to explore and appreciate our environs, support vital environmental programs and policies, and help protect and conserve our natural resources for future generations.  He received a bachelor’s degree in Zoology and minor in Geological Sciences from the University of Maine at Orono, and a Master’s degree in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island.  Jim can be reached at: https://www.linkedin.com/in/turek-james-jim-67162a43/
