Members of the Massachusetts chapter of NFC recently tabled at the first ever Boston Outdoor Expo at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. This allowed NFC to get in front of non-fishing outdoor enthusiasts as well as general conservationists.
As NFC has said from the start, if we are ever to gain truly effective protections for our wild native fish, we will need the support of non-anglers, general conservation groups, watershed associations, and other non-traditional demographics.
As is sometimes the case, NFC was the only fish-centric group in attendance. In fact, we were the only traditional sporting centric group. But while we talked fishing, we were there to engage people about fish conservation not recreation.
This event led to several possible partnerships which could help extent our reach into non-traditional areas and get the native fish message out to an even broader audience.
